One of the buzz topics of the left this political season is public healthcare. Sure, who doesn’t want healthcare for all, that is the no brainer. The question is what method do you use to get healthcare to everyone. First, I don’t see how anyone would think that healthcare could be run more efficiently by the federal government. But the most important fact is what freedoms are we willing to give up if government is involved in healthcare.
This is a much read story about what you may have to give up to get public heatlhcare. http://abcnews.go.com/2020/Stossel/Story?id=3582442&page=1
From the story:
So, to stop you from eating things that are bad for you, the Los Angeles city council has proposed legislation to forbid the opening of any new fast food restaurants in parts of the city that have high rates of diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure.
The city government will dictate the kind of restaurants that may open? It sounds more like communist Russia than southern California, but this is what happens when the government pays the bill for our health care.
A higher percentage of the people in those neighborhoods live in poverty and that means more of them use government money (Medicaid) to pay for their health care. Government pays the medical bill.
That increasing government involvement in health care will invariably lead to government wanting to tell you how to be healthy. Already, the nanny state has banned trans fats in New York City. Now Los Angeles may ban new fast food restaurants?
Okay folks, now when you hear the rhetoric about healthcare for all and a federally funded healthcare system think about the next step that government would take by controlling what you are allowed to eat in the name of saving taxpayer money.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I can not stand John Edwards. The guy is so two faced and full of crap. Anyway, reading along online today, I ran across this story about Edwards and his wife.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/2007-06-26-edwards-gay-marriage_N.htm?csp=34
From the story:
“It’s not the only thing we disagree about,” the Democratic presidential candidate quipped Monday on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
“She actually says what she thinks,” Edwards said.
So he says that the disagree on some things and then the next statement is that Ms Edwards actually says what she thinks? So I am to assume John that you are stating that you don’t say what you think. That may be the first time that I actually agree with something you say.
Anyway, the story goes on about gay marriage and how Mr & Ms Edwards disagree on their opinion of gay marriage. The story states that Elizabeth Edwards kicked off the San Fransisco Gay Pride Parade by declaring her support for legalizing gay marriage.
From the story: The former North Carolina senator, with his wife at his side on Leno’s couch, said he was unaware of her position on gay marriage and was surprised to learn about it while reading the newspaper.
Do the Edwards even talk to each other? So we are taking advice on a marriage from a couple who obviously don’t communicate much.
