I am for one outraged at the group La Raza.  For the past few months they have been threatening to move thier covention scheduled for Kansas City in 2009.  They are doint this because Frances Selmer was appointed to the Parks & Recreation board.  You ask why is this a big deal, Selmer is a member of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps which is against illegal immigration.

First, folks she stands for something that is illegal, since when is that wrong in America.  Second, it is the Parks and Recreation board, my gosh, it isn’t like someone who disagrees with them is on an ethics or equal opportunity board.  This goes to show what a racist group La Raza is.

The founder of La Raza was stated ”We have to eliminate the gringo and what I mean by that is if the worst comes to wors, we have to to kill him” 

Please contact your local representative and express your displeasure with the La Raza group and let them know that you will not stand for this type of group and you don not want any of your tax dollars going to support this group.

This goes to show that La Raza doesn’t understand what it means to be American, they are still living their values as if they were in Mexico. 

Here is the situation here in Kansas City.  Earlier this year, Frances Semler was appointed to the Kansas City Park Board.    Oversees the parks and recreation in Kansas City.  Well, National Council of La Raza, a national organization for Hispanics are scheduled to have their national conference in Kansas City for 2008.   Come to find out Ms Semler is a member of the Minutemen Civil Defense Corps, a group that is for securing the American borders.

 Obviously that means the Minutemen are against illegal immigration.  Because of Semler’s appointment to the Park Board (remember that is parks and recreation), La Raza has threatened to pull their national convention scheduled in Kansas City and the NAACP has threatened to pull theirs in support of La Raza.   It is of note that the chairman of the park board that Selmer serves on is Hispanic.

There have been many claims that the Minutemen are bunch of racists vigilantes with no repsect for the law.  From everything that I have been able to research, this group is not a group of racists and the obey the law.  With that said, I can not account for the every person in the group and with any group you have some on the extreme.  Just like you can’t say that all Muslims are bad because of extremist terrorist groups, or that all atheletes are dog killers because of the Vick case or that all Catholic priests prey on children or even that members of the NAACP are thugs because some members are in gangs.

La Raza and the NAACP can pull their conferences if they want, they have the freedom to do that.  But to try to bully a city by throwing a fit about a woman being appointed to the Park Board is childish.  Simple as that.  These people supposedly are for the exchanging of different ideas and having a range of input from different groups.  But I guess in the end the only input they accept are the thoughts that agree with them.

The Senate voted today to consider the Immigration Bill that could provide amnesty for 12 million or more undocumented people in the United States.  Everyone needs to contact their Senator and let them know that this is not the correct bill and that they need to work on a new version.  It is critical to let your voice be heard.

The immigration dilemma is one that we are going to have to solve.  First, it is not a race issue, it has nothing to do with race.  It is more of a question of planning and being able to handle the influx of a new population.

First, let us look at some numbers.  There are an estimated 12 million immigrants who are in the United States illegally.  Out of those 12 million, there  are an estimated 7.1 million workers.  Quite interestingly, for the year 2006, the US Department of Labor put the unemployment total at just over 7 million.  That unemployment number only includes people who are actively looking for unemployment, so the actual unemployment number in the United States is higher.   What does this mean, it means that the argument that we need more workers in America is BULL.  Why don’t we stop the welfare programs and require those to work instead of trying to say that we need immigrants to take jobs.

Second, I appreciate the desire for immigrants to come to America to work and their wilingness to work for low wages (I have worked plenty myself at pretty low wages in the past).  But as time goes by and a second generation of immigrants see how there is such a fine line between working at lower paying jobs and living on govenment assistance which will just bloat the numbers on government assistance even more.

I am for immigration but regulated and planned immigration, not mass immigration like what is being proposed by the amenesty bill that is being considered by Congress.   Please contact your representative and let them know your feelings on this issue.
